Snow Favors the Northwest over the Next 5 Days:

An active pattern will resume across the West this weekend and into early next week. Storms will favor the Northwest with deep snow totals for Coastal BC and Washington, while Oregon, Northern California (including Tahoe), Idaho, and the Interior of BC will pick up some solid snow totals as well.

The Central Rockies will also pick up some snow on Friday and again on Monday/Tuesday.

New England Storm:

The East has been unseasonably warm recently, but a welcome shot of snow is on the way for New England this weekend, as well as upstate New York and Quebec. Precipitation will start as rain on Saturday, but then colder air will arrive with moderate to heavy snow from Saturday night through Monday

Higher elevations in New England will be most favored in this storm, while the bottom of some ski resorts could see a rain/snow mix.

Forecast for Fri (Mar 8) to Sat (Mar 9):

Snow will fall across the Southern Rockies on Friday as a weak storm tracks across the Southwest, before tapering off on Saturday. A strong storm will bring heavy snow to Western BC (including Whistler) on Friday and Saturday, with light/moderate snow spreading into the WA/OR Cascades on Saturday.

A storm will bring widespread rain to the East on Friday night and Saturday, and snow will mix in with rain across the Great Lakes and Upstate New York by Saturday afternoon.

Forecast for Sun (Mar 10) to Mon (Mar 11):

Another storm will move across the Northwest with heavy snow for Southwest BC and the Washington Cascades. This storm will track a bit further south with moderate snow extending into Oregon and California (as far south as Tahoe), while the BC Interior and Northern Idaho will also pick up solid totals. Western Montana and Wyoming will see light snow.

Colder air will filter into the Northeast as a strong storm moves across the region, resulting in moderate to heavy snow across New England, Upstate New York, and Quebec from Saturday night through Monday.

Forecast for Tue (Mar 12) to Wed (Mar 13):

Another storm will reach the West Coast with moderate to heavy snow extending from Alaska and BC all the way southward into California including Tahoe. Snow from this storm will also reach the Central Rockies (Utah, Wyoming, Colorado) with moderate snow totals expected at this time.

Northern New England could see some lingering snow showers early on Tuesday, then a break in the pattern is expected from later Tuesday into Wednesday.

Outlook for Thu (Mar 14) to Mon (Mar 18):

A ridge of high pressure will build over the West Coast during this period, which will result in a dry and sunny pattern for most of Western North America while storms tracking along the northern periphery of the ridge will favor Alaska. 

One exception is the Southern Rockies, where a storm early in this period could bring some snow to New Mexico as well as the southern and eastern ranges in Colorado.

A significant warm-up is expected across the East with rain possible around March 15th-16th, but there are hints of a much colder pattern arriving just beyond this period.
