5-Day Snow Forecast:

The East will remain favored for snow in the near term, especially over Northern New England and in the lake effect regions of New York and Pennsylvania. Lighter snow is expected further south into West Virginia.

• Jay Peak (VT)
• Stowe (VT)
• Le Massif de Charlevoix (QC)
• Snow Ridge (NY)
• Mt. Pleasant (PA)
• Blue Mountain (ON)

Forecast for Wed (Dec 4) to Thu (Dec 5):

A storm will bring widespread snow to the Northeast, and precipitation type will stay all-snow for ski areas with cold air in place. Most of the West will remain quiet, though a storm will bring snow to the higher terrain in Alaska. However, snow levels will be quite high in Alaska with rain falling over lower-elevation ski terrain. 

Forecast for Fri (Dec 6) to Sat (Dec 7):

Lake effect snow showers will continue across the Northeast in the wake of the previous storm. Out West, a storm will move into Southern BC and the Northwest U.S., bringing rain and snow with deep accumulations possible across higher elevation terrain in BC.

Forecast for Sun (Dec 8) to Mon (Dec 9):

The Western storm will track from northwest to southeast into the Rockies and colder air will also arrive. Light to moderate accumulations are expected in most areas of the Rockies, with locally heavy totals possible in some areas. The Northwest will see lower snow levels, but moisture will be limited behind the cold front with only light snow expected. 

A storm will move into the East but warmer air will also arrive with it, resulting in a transition from snow to rain across New England. The Western Great Lakes could potentially see some higher snowfall totals in the colder sector of this storm. 

Outlook for Tue (Dec 10) to Sat (Dec 14):

The pattern will turn more active across the West with the storm track favoring the Northwest and Northern Rockies. The Sierra and the Central Rockies (Utah and Colorado) could also catch the southern end of the storm track, especially later in this period. Temperatures will be cooler compared to the previous week, but still a little above normal for mid-December.

The Northeast will see relatively frequent storms, but temperatures will be warmer and most storms will likely bring a mixed bag of snow and rain.
