US and Canada Daily Snow

The west and northwest is the place for powder
Summary
If you’re seeking powder through the end of 2016, you’ll want to focus your search on the western US and Canada. Multiple cold storms should bring at least a few more powder days before we hit the new year.
Short Term Forecast
The snow forecast for the next five days shows that most of the action will be in the western US and Canada.
I have high confidence in the potential snowfall in Canada and the northwestern US. Much of this snow will fall during the first half of the week.
I have only low confidence in the forecast for later this week into next weekend. The current models show the chance for Christmas Eve powder in New Mexico and Colorado, but this storm’s track is far from certain.

Extended Forecast
Looking ahead to the weather pattern during Christmas and beyond, it appears that cool air will hang tight over the western US and Canada while the Northeast trends toward above-average temperatures.
This trend should mean that additional powder days will occur in western North America, while in the east, we’ll likely swing back-and-forth between cool temperatures and times of mixed precipitation with warmer air.
