Northern storm track persists

Summary

Most of the western US and Canada will enjoy powder early this week, and then the storm track will shift a bit further north which will keep the northern Rockies and Canada under the path for pow.

Short Term Forecast

California and the Pacific Northwest were whacked with snow this past weekend, and early this week the snow will fall on the central and northern Rockies.

By later this week, the storm track will pivot, with the western part shifting north, and the eastern part shifting south.

During the weekend (March 11-12), the storm track will remain in a similar area, favoring the northern Rockies.

And early the following week, the storm track will remain over the same areas. This is like the movie "Groundhog Day"!

There will be slight wobbles in the storm track, so snow may fall a bit further south than what is shown above.

Extended Forecast

Looking out to March 15-20, the same areas will be favored with cooler temperatures - namely the northeast and the northwest.

Sometimes the storm track will stay relatively stationary for a couple of weeks, and it appears that’s what will happen for the first 2-3 weeks of March.
