Weak Storm Delivers!

Summary

Our storm system overnight did as well as could be expected. Fresh snow out there! Another weak system for Tuesday night into Wednesday, then a break until early next week.

Short Term Forecast

Yesterday's storm basically performed as expected. Almost everybody was in the 3-6" range except for the usual suspects -- the Cottonwood Canyons reporting 7-10" thus far and it's still snowing. NW flow is keeping things going, especially in LCC where a few more inches are possible. I think Alta/Snowbird could be looking at a foot by the time things clear out late this morning. How are conditions going to be today?

Sounds like a ringing endorsement for the legend himself! Should be fun out there today. Mondays have been $$$ all season!

The next storm is pushing in for Tuesday night and Wednesday. Again, this is a pathetic, no good, piece of monkey **** storm that will probably only drop an inch or two. My grandma takes bigger dumps than that. But seriously, really not expecting much out of this next system other than a dusting to a couple inches for Wednesday morning.  Ya never know though, it could trend better...

We are still in a general break in the action and the ridge off the west coast is going to block storms for the most part thru the weekend.

Extended Forecast

Our next real hope for a storm is early next week. Both the GFS and Euro have a system for Monday/Tuesday of next week. It's not major, but it could be a halfway decent system with snowfall for primarily Northern Utah mountains.

Then, as we head toward the second week of February, the early indications show the ridge retrograding (moving west) and opening the door for a stormier pattern to re-develop in the Western U.S.  It's a long way out so fingers crossed!
