Drier Weather Ahead
Summary
We are entering a rather quiet period of weather for the next week or so. Only a couple brush-by storms with mostly sunny skies for this weekend.
Short Term Forecast
Snow continued yesterday morning as expected with the most favored area being LCC. Snowbird and Alta picked up another 8-9" during the morning hours for storm totals of 19-20" in LCC. 16-18" in BCC. Generally, 6-12" elsewhere in the Wasatch with 16" down at Brian Head. Not huge, but enough to add to our already impressive snowpack.
We are now at 100% of the statewide median peak -- meaning we have now averaged a typical full-season's worth of snow already.
This is 8 weeks ahead of schedule!
We will see a very weak system late Wednesday afternoon/evening that will brush far northern Utah. A few snow showers likely but accumulations should be an inch or two. It will provide a reinforcing push of cold air for Thursday. We then dry out fully as we head into the weekend.
Extended Forecast
Looking for our next real chance at a system of substance, we continue to target the February 14-15 period. EPS meteograms showing all EPS ensembles are onboard for something occurring during this timeframe:
We will continue to watch this over the next 5-7 days and see how the details evolve.
