Update

Monday turned out very warm with a high temperature in the upper 40s along with lots of mid-and-high-level clouds through the day.

Now on Tuesday morning, the temperature is still warm, right around 32F, and the sun is shining. But this dry and sunny weather won’t last for long as a cold front and snow showers will arrive around Tuesday late morning or midday, and the snow showers should continue through Tuesday until about midnight. During this time, the temperature will fall into the teens and upper single digits.

Expect 3-6 inches of snow from Tuesday midday through Wednesday morning, and this means that you’ll find softer conditions on the groomers on Tuesday afternoon, and by Wednesday morning you’ll find a bit more snow. While this is a strong storm, the system will lack moisture, which is why I’ve kept my snow forecast on the conservative side.

Following dry and chilly weather on Wednesday (high temperatures in the mid-30s), and dry weather on Thursday (highs in the mid-40s), the next storm will bring snow showers on Friday, with steadier snow likely on Friday afternoon, Friday night, and Saturday morning. The forecast models are still adjusting the exact track of this storm, which is why my forecast is for a bit lower snow totals compared to what I said yesterday. Still, I think we’ll see some snow on Friday, and the best powder will be on Saturday morning with 8-16 inches as a storm total.

Winter Park closes on Sunday, April 22nd (Mary Jane will be open through Sunday, May 6th!), so this Friday/Saturday storm will be your last chance to ski pow on the main mountain. Good timing, eh?!

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for an update each morning!
