More snow possible Thursday into Friday at Winter Park

Summary

Tuesday brought snow showers, Wednesday into Thursday will bring more snow showers, then from later Thursday through Friday night, the final storm of the week will deliver more accumulating snow.

Short Term Forecast

On Tuesday and Tuesday night, we saw breaks of sunshine, some dry weather, and some snow showers with 1 inch of accumulation during the day and 1 inch of accumulation at night.

On Wednesday, we should start off with drier weather, then snow showers should fire up during the midday, afternoon, and evening with a coating to a couple of inches of accumulation.

From Thursday morning through Saturday morning, the third storm of the week will track south of Colorado, like the previous storms this week, and this unfavorable track should once again limit our snow accumulation. That said, we could still see at least a couple of inches of snow, and the best chances to find softer turns could be on Friday morning thanks to snow on Thursday night, and again on Friday's last chair and/or Saturday’s first chair because the final part of the storm on Friday night will deliver a more favorable wind direction from the west and northwest.

Extended Forecast

Saturday and Sunday will be dry and warmer with Saturday high temperatures in the 30s and Sunday high temperatures climbing into the 40s.

Then sometime between Monday, March 29, and Wednesday, March 31, all models now agree that will we see snow, which is good, but I still have low confidence in potential snow totals as the storm could be anything from one that brings a quick and glancing blow to a system that slows down and spends a day or more over Colorado. For now, I will keep expectations low and hope for the best.
