Chances for snow next week

Summary

We'll see dry weather through Monday midday, then snow will fall Monday night and Tuesday and again later in the week.

Update

Thursday was a very warm day with on-mountain temperatures hitting 50°F. That is not what we'd like to see in early December.

For Friday and Saturday, our weather will be dry with high temperatures in the 40s.

For Sunday, our weather will be dry and cooler with high temperatures in the 20s, maybe a few flakes on Sunday morning, and gusty winds during the day on Sunday.

Our next chance for real snowfall will begin on Monday afternoon and last through Tuesday afternoon. The energy from this storm might split as it approaches Colorado, so my confidence in significant snow totals is lower. Still, maybe we'll get to the 3-5 inch range, and maybe we'll see more if we're lucky. I'll offer more details in the coming days.

Wednesday should be dry, then the next storm will bring snow between Wednesday night and Saturday morning. There is the potential for significant snow from this storm as it will bring a lot of moisture as well as two pieces of storm energy during a 48-hour period, but it's too soon to be confident in snow totals. Stay tuned.

The longer-range outlook continues to trend during drier weather during the week of December 13-17 and then potentially stormier weather during the week of December 20-24.
