Light snow on Wednesday, then dry again

Summary

As expected, we are seeing light snowfall on Wednesday morning, with 1-2 inches likely by first chair. A little more snow could accumulate during the day as well.

Update

Tuesday was dry and warm with temperatures in the 30s and 40s, and then early on Wednesday morning, colder air and snow arrived.

As I write this just after sunrise on Wednesday, snow is falling and the temperature is in the 20s.

Wednesday's storm is a disjointed one, with all of the storm's pieces not exactly aligning. This means that just a few inches of snow, 1-3 or 2-4, is the best we can hope for. A lot of this snow will fall on Wednesday morning and provide a little bit of a fun layer on top of the harder-packed groomed slopes.

On Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday night, there is a chance that a second part of this storm will bring a few more inches of snow, but this is a lower chance as most of the latest forecast models show the Wednesday night snow staying south and east of the mountain as the storm's energy sags to the south.

Following this storm, we'll see cooler weather through the end of the week, making snowmaking efforts a little more efficient. That said, there will be no precipitation in the forecast for the next 7-10 days, so we're going to endure another week-plus of dry and not-so-winterlike weather.

The good news is that starting around or just after November 17th, all longer-range forecast models show that a stormier weather pattern will arrive in the western U.S., and with just a little bit of luck, this stormier weather pattern will translate into multiple storms for us here in Colorado during the final 10-12 days of November.
