Vail Opens Blue Sky Basin, Back Bowls for the 2017-18 Season

This article is sponsored in partnership with our friends at Vail Mountain.

Multiple storms delivered 23 inches to Vail Mountain during the week of January 7th. This allowed for portions of terrain in Blue Sky Basin and Vail’s legendary Back Bowls to open for the 2017-18 season on Saturday, January 13th.

As of Monday, January 15th, Vail Mountain is operating 26 lifts with access to 167 trails and 3,751 acres. The latest forecast from Joel Gratz on the Vail Daily Snow for the weekend of January 20th and 21st is also very encouraging for more snow and delicious powder skiing and riding.

"A significant storm should hit Vail from Friday night through Sunday midday. On Saturday, it’s likely that it will be snowing while you’re skiing, and with the snow continuing on Saturday night, you should find fresh snow again on Sunday morning. Total snowfall should be in the 6-12 inch range, so plan for another powdery and fun weekend!"

With more terrain open, and more snow in the forecast, you couldn't ask for a better time to visit Vail this season. Start planning your trip by visiting Vail.com for all of your lodging, event, and other ski-related information.
