Terrific (Really) Tuesday

Update

At 8am Tuesday morning around a foot has fallen in the last 24 hours at the Challenger snow-stake with sunny skies over Lone Mountain and a temperature of 12 degrees in the village. For today expect sunny skies (face shots) and a high temperature of 33 degrees at 8000’. Winds will be out of the West/SW at 10-15mph with gusts up to 30mph on ridge tops and exposed alpine areas.

The sun stays in the forecast daily through midday Friday with slowly moderating daytime temps. Daily highs at 8000’ will stay right at or just below the freezing mark until Wednesday when afternoon highs will thaw into the mid-30’s. A weak system Wednesday night might bring a skiff to an inch (yeah…you’ve heard this on Monday!) before clearing out Thursday morning. Looking ahead our next storm system, a cold front with arctic roots, looks to encroach into the area on Friday evening and bring a snow event into the weekend along with drastically dropping temps into the single digits by Sunday. A bit too early for snowfall projections so stay tuned. Ullr appears to be getting stoked up about Part II of the season…
