Update
Big Howdy to all the Big Sky pow riders out there on this first post of the 20/21 season! With La Nina in full effect, we look forward to a snowier than average fall/early winter to start off the season.
Current natural snow depths range from around 8-10” at the Village to 12-20” mid- mountain and up. Expect another 3-6” on top of that by Saturday evening along with some very strong south winds.
Besides the natural snowpack, colder than average temps over the last 7-10 days have allowed aggressive snowmaking across the lower mountain. This scenario looks to last into Monday when high-pressure will allow daytime temps to rise to or slightly above freezing.
Next week, expect above average temps with daily doses of snow showers/flurries (light accumulations possible each day) until Thursday when another cold front arrives. The various weather models are all over the place from Thursday on, so stay tuned for my next update early next week.
Opening day is looking good and is just around the bend (Nov. 26th)! Thanks for tuning in.

NEW: Avalanche Forecasts
Many folks have requested this over the past year and we're excited to now show avalanche forecasts for regions across North America.
You can use our map view to see a quick overview of the avalanche forecast conditions and you can also go back in time for the last 7 days to see how the avalanche conditions have changed by using the slider at the bottom of the map.
Also, we integrated the avalanche forecast into each mountain location page under a new tab called "Avalanche Forecast".
The avalanche forecasts are freely available and are the foundation of any backcountry experience. Please check these forecasts each time you head out of controlled terrain!
You can view the avalanche forecasts right now on our website and they will be live on our iPhone and Android apps very soon.
