Countdown to Thanksgiving Opening Day

Summary

While my forecast is a mostly dry one, the good news is that it will stay cold enough for 24/7 snowmaking all the way up to opening day. Our next chance at measurable snowfall looks to be Tuesday night into Wednesday.

Update

High-pressure will bring a mix of a few clouds with mostly sunny skies for both days this weekend. Daytime highs at the Village will be in the upper 20’s allowing round the clock snowmaking to continue all over Lone and Andesite mountains.

A few snow showers are possible on Monday with a very weak disturbance with no real accumulations likely. Temps will continue to allow snowmaking to continue Monday and Tuesday.

A fast-moving cold front will arrive Tuesday night and bring a return of snow showers into the day on Wednesday with light accumulations possible. For opening day on Thanksgiving, look for a mix of snow showers with a few sunny spells thrown in along with chilly daytime temps of around 15 (at mid-mountain 8500’). Black Friday looks to be a dry one with slightly warmer daytime temps.

Starting next Wednesday, I will be posting daily weather updates for the rest of the 20/21 ski season. Thanks for reading!

NEW: Avalanche Forecasts

Many folks have requested this over the past year and we're excited to now show avalanche forecasts for regions across North America.

You can use our map view to see a quick overview of the avalanche forecast conditions and you can also go back in time for the last 7 days to see how the avalanche conditions have changed by using the slider at the bottom of the map.

Also, we integrated the avalanche forecast into each mountain location page under a new tab called "Avalanche Forecast".

The avalanche forecasts are freely available and are the foundation of any backcountry experience. Please check these forecasts each time you head out of controlled terrain!

You can view the avalanche forecasts right now on our website and they will be live on our iPhone and Android apps very soon.
