Fresh Snow for Opening Day!
Summary
A stalling shortwave system over the Yellowstone region Wednesday will bring snow showers, some heavy at times to Big Sky with 4-8" possible.
Update
As of 6PM Wednesday, moderate snow showers continue with 5" observed so far at 8800’ on Andesite Mountain (Everett’s). A stalling shortwave system has gratefully found its way to a small area of SW Montana, mainly around Big Sky where another 1-4" is possible before the system moves out late tonight. Advise an early start for the line up(s) tomorrow. Lets start 20/21 in the best possible way by ripping boot top pow - Wear a mask and be respectable to ALL. Yep.
Stoked! The scene at the top of Andesite below...
High-pressure builds in quickly Thanksgiving afternoon with partly sunny skies along with seasonal daytime temps of 15-25 (8000') and light west winds 10-15mph. Ditto Friday. A mix of sun and clouds along with increasing SW winds (gusty at times on ridge tops to 30mph) will be present on Saturday. Alpine winds look to calm a bit on Sunday with yet another sunny day. High temps at 8000’ over the weekend will be in the mid to upper 20’s.
Dry and sunny skies with a few stray clouds will dominate next week’s weather pattern unfortunately. High temps will also be rising to above freezing at most locations below 8000’ by early next week. Think Snow!
