Slowly...Old Man Winter Returns

Summary

One inch of new snow overnight will go one step forward in refreshing the slopes of Lone and Andesite mountains today. Clearing skies will bring the sun back out Thursday morning for another beautiful day in the Madison's. Starting Friday afternoon, a westerly flow opens the door for several small storms to enter the region with daily light doses of snow through Tuesday of next week.

Update

Today:

At 7AM Thursday it’s 23 degrees in the Village and 16 degrees at the top of Andesite Mountain (at 8800’) with 1” of new snow reported. Air inversions have moved out. Skies are currently cloudy with snow flurries over both Andesite Mountain and Lone Mountain.

A mix of clouds and sun along with chilly temps will be the basic weather story today. Light N/NW winds (to 10mph) will keep temps at 8500’ from barely reaching the 20-degree mark through the afternoon (high of 18). Because we’re a bit soft to cold temps, maybe add an extra layer or two and some hand warmers to your bag this AM. Just sayin’ …

Friday and the Extended Forecast:

Friday looks to start off partly cloudy before a weak wave of moisture moves in during the afternoon hours that may trigger a few flurries before last chair. High temps at 8500’ look to stay in the upper teens, similar to Thursday. Right now, look for a possibility of 1-3” Friday night into Saturday morning.

The rest of Saturday looks to be a mix of clouds, flurries and a few sunny breaks. Sunday afternoon the westerly flow delivers the next wave into the region. The wave on Sunday into Monday could possibly bring 2-4”. Stay tuned for the latest. Thanks for reading.
