Summary

Thursday’s shaping up to be the warmest day of the high-pressure run with highs in the low 40’s at 9000’. Enjoy it as we have a major change in the works. Friday afternoon an active SW flow ushers in clouds, snow showers and a few rumbles of thunder. Snow, heavy at times Friday night lasting in varying intensities into Saturday with a modest storm total of 4 to 8 inches possible.

Today:   

At 8:00AM it’s 20 degree in the Village and 22 degrees at the 8800’ level of Andesite Mountain. No new snow fell in the past 24-hours. Currently the skies are clear over Lone and Andesite mountains. Current winds at the top of Andesite are blowing from the East at 4 mph with a recent gust to 6 mph.

Today expect a sunny and mild day with moderate south/southwest winds. High temperatures across the upper mountain locations (at 9000’) will be around 40 degrees. Winds will be blowing out of the South/SW at 10 to 15 mph with ridgetop gusts to 25 mph.  

Extended Forecast:

High-pressure will keep partly sunny skies and mild temps until around noon on Friday when clouds will quickly be on the increase. Afternoon snow showers will develop and even a rumble of thunder is possible. Snow returns to the forecast in earnest Friday night with 2 to 4 inches likely overnight. Snow continues into Saturday with another 2 to 4 inches possible. Afternoon instability will again bring chances of a few rumbles of thunder. Temperatures Saturday will revert back to seasonal averages, with upper mountain highs in the mid to upper 20’s. Snow showers Saturday night could amount to another inch or two overnight. After a partly sunny/ partly cloudy, snow showery kind day for both Sunday and Monday, another Pacific storm is expected Monday night into Tuesday.
