Dig Out the Fat Skis, It’s Pow Time

Summary

The storm blew in a bit quicker than anticipated but it worked out better for morning freshies with 6 overnight inches. Look for an additional 2 to 4 inches falling in varying intensities through the day on Saturday, followed by a 2 to 4 inch refresher tonight. Weak high-pressure rebuilds Sunday.

Update

Today:   

At 8:00AM it’s 30 degree in the Village and 23 degrees at the 8800’ level of Andesite Mountain. 6 inches of new snow fell in the past 24-hours. Currently the skies are snowing lightly over Lone and Andesite mountains. Current winds at the top of Andesite are blowing from the NW at 6 mph with a recent gust to 14 mph.

Today expect periods of snow through the morning tapering to snow showers this afternoon with mid-mountain accumulations of 2 to 4 additional inches. Winds will be blowing out of the NW at 5 to 15 mph. High temperatures across the upper mountain locations (at 9000’) will be around 28 degrees.  

Extended Forecast:

Another wave of moistures rolls through Saturday night bringing chances of another 2 to 4 inches overnight. After a mostly sunny day on Sunday, clouds and snow showers return Monday in advance of a robust Pacific storm system bringing chances of another 5 to 10 inches Monday night through Tuesday afternoon. A brief respite on Wednesday, then another system rolls through Thursday. It’s a good time to be in Big Sky…
