Blustery Monday

Summary

It was a windy Sunday night with a gusts to 100 mph at the top of Lone Mountain. The cold front pushed through and instability behind it has already dropped a few inches this morning. Look for another 1 to 3 today in off and on show showers. West winds will continue to blow across the alpine zones 30 to 35 mph with 55 mph gusts. Cold and blustery out there but east and NE aspects could be fun.

Today:                                               

At 7:00AM it’s 16 degrees in the Village and 8 degrees at the 8800’ level of Andesite Mountain. 2 inches of new snow fell since 5AM. Currently the skies are cloudy over Lone and Andesite mountains. Current winds at the top of Andesite are blowing from the SW at 24 mph with a recent gust to 53 mph.

Today expect cloudy skies during the morning with snow showers redeveloping by noon with accumulations of 1 to 3 inches through the afternoon. SW winds will be at high wind warning levels with sustained winds of 30 to 35 mph with gusts to 55 mph. Expect some wind holds this morning. High temperatures will be polar in comparison to Sunday with highs across the upper mountain locations (at 9000’) will be around 12 degrees.

Extended Forecast:

 Snow showers continue into Monday night with another 1 to 3 inches possible. Tuesday will offer clearing skies with a mix of sun and clouds and most importantly, decreasing winds. It will be cold, with highs at 9000’ of around 15 degrees. High-pressure builds in on Wednesday and temps rebound quickly back to seasonal springlike averages (30 degree high at 9K’). Thursday and Friday, sunny skies and warm daytime temperatures. Friday’s highs at 9K’ will be in the low 40’s.
