Cold Day with Decreasing Winds
Summary
The effects of the vigorous cold front that blew through Sunday night will be with us for one more day (Tuesday). Temperatures will run about 15 to 20 degrees below seasonal averages with highs of around 12 degrees across the mid to upper mountain(s). West/NW winds will decrease significantly but will still add to the chill today blowing at 13 to 18 mph with 25 mph gusts.

Today:
At 7:00AM it’s 13 degrees in the Village and 5 degrees at the 8800’ level of Andesite Mountain. 3 inches of new snow fell in the last 24-hours, 1 inch of that falling overnight. Currently the skies are cloudy over Lone and Andesite mountains. Current winds at the top of Andesite are blowing from the West at 13 mph with a recent gust to 27 mph.
Today, another cold day with cloudy skies and occasional sunny spells late morning into the afternoon. High temperatures across the upper mountain locations (at 9000’) will be around 12 degrees. West/NW winds will be at the moderate level, blowing 13-18 mph with gusts to 25 mph across the ridgetops.
Extended Forecast:
High-pressure builds in on Wednesday and temps rebound quickly back to seasonal springlike averages (30 degree high at 9K’). Aprils comes in like a lamb with on Thursday with sunny skies and high temps approaching 40 across the upper terrain. Ditto that forecast for Friday and Saturday but add a few degrees each day for the high temps. By Saturday afternoon it could hit 45 degrees at 9000’. A weak system brings in a few clouds to the mix on Sunday, but the sun will still be partly shining. Snow showers return to the forecast early next week.
