Bluebird Day Farewells the Snowy Month of March

Summary

Snowfall during the month of March redeemed a somewhat lackluster season that had snowpack percentages in the low 70’s percentiles on the last day of February. Now that percentage is 98 percent. Our current snowpack should hold strong until Big Sky’s world-famous last day festivities April 18th. Enjoy a bluebird farewell to March today. Cheers!

Update

Today:

At 7:00AM it’s 8 degrees in the Village and 5 degrees at the 8800’ level of Andesite Mountain. No new snow fell in the last 24-hours. Currently the skies are clear over Lone and Andesite mountains. Current winds at the top of Andesite are blowing from the East at 3 mph with a recent gust to 7 mph.

Today, a crisp and cold morning will quickly warm with the late March sun into a very pleasant afternoon. Skies will be sunny all day with high temperatures across the upper mountain locations (at 9000’) being around 30 degrees. Lower mountain locations will see highs around 34.  West/SW winds will be blowing 10-15 mph with gusts to 20 mph across the ridgetops.

Extended Forecast:

April comes in like a lamb on Thursday with sunny skies and high temps approaching 40 across the upper terrain. Ditto that forecast for Friday and Saturday but add a few degrees each day for the high temps. By Saturday afternoon it could hit 45 degrees at 9000’. A weak system brings in a few clouds to the mix on Sunday, but the sun will still be strong. Snow showers and colder temps return to the forecast early next week with Tuesday looking the most promising for measurable snowfall.
