Copper Mountain Daily Snow

Update
Throughout the day on Friday, sunshine was filtered by mid-and-high-level clouds. Temperatures were in the teens to low 20s.
Saturday will bring warmer temperatures in the 20s to low 30s. We’ll likely continue to see mid-and-high-level clouds filtering the sunshine.
Sunday will feel like spring. Temperatures will rise into the 40s and skies should be mostly sunny. Enjoy this beautiful weather with the comforting knowledge that snow will return shortly!
The first storm of the week will bring snow from Monday through Tuesday. The best chance for the most intense snow will occur from Monday midday through Tuesday morning. I’m going to lower my forecast just a bit to 4-9 inches. There will be plenty of moisture and energy with this storm as it moves over Colorado, but this is not a classic storm track for big snow in Colorado’s northern mountains, so I’ll keep expectations reasonable. Based on the timing of the storm, there could be some fresh snow to enjoy on Monday afternoon, then Tuesday morning and midday has the best chance of offering soft turns. Because the base will be firm at the start of the storm (thanks to Sunday’s warm temperatures and then subsequent colder temperatures), we’ll need at least 3-6 inches to start softening the base.
From Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning, we should see a brief break in the snow.
The second storm of the week will bring a 48+ hour surge of moisture and energy to Colorado’s northern mountains and this is mostly good news for us. We should see snow from Wednesday afternoon or evening right through Friday or even Saturday morning. Based on the duration of this storm and the forecast for plenty of moisture, it’s reasonable to expect 10-20 inches of snow with back-to-back powder days on Thursday and Friday, and perhaps a bonus powder morning on Saturday. The caveats to keep in mind are that (1) there is a low chance that the storm track could move farther north which would lower snow totals and (2) we might see warming temperatures during the storm which could make the snow a little thicker over time.
Looking further ahead, there will continue to be storms over or near Colorado through the weekend (February 8-9) and the following week (February 10-14). We will likely see a break in the snow at some point, but the majority of these days could bring more flakes to Colorado. Overall, this should be a fun two-week storm cycle!
