Back and Forth Storm Track

Summary

A quiet week for the Western US as a strong storm swings into the Northeast on Thursday. The storm track returns to the West during the weekend of February 29th and March 1st, followed by active weather for the West Coast during the first 7-10 days of March.

Short Term Forecast

Let's get started with the deepest reports from the Collective Resorts from Thursday, February 20th through the morning of Monday, February 24th.

Deepest 5-Day Totals

Aspen Mountain: 12"

Aspen Highlands: 10"

Snowmass: 10"

Taos: 9"

Aspen Buttermilk: 7"

Forecast

Much of the Western United States will remain quiet during the week of February 24th. A quick-moving system did leave light to moderate totals in Jackson Hole, Aspen Snowmass, and at A-Basin on the morning of 24th but cold temps throughout the Rockies will limit additional totals through Tuesday, February 25th.

The big storm to watch this week will be at Sugarbush, Vermont beginning on the evening of Wednesday, February 26th. This storm should pack a good punch and leave Sugarbush with 5-10 inches for Thursday, February 27th. Good chase potential for you Collective pass holders that live in the Northeast!

Following quiet weather for the West and the storm for the Northeast on Thursday, our attention will turn to the weekend of February 29th and March 1st as the storm track rotates back through the Western United States.

Extended Forecast

Early signals are for a weaker system to slide into the West Coast around Saturday, February 29th, which should open the storm door for additional storms as we head into the first week of March. Mammoth and Squaw Alpine desperately need fresh snow so let's all do our snow dances to send good vibes there way as we head into the first 7-10 days of March.

I'll be on a road trip during the first two weeks of March and I am planning to visit many Collective destinations so keep an eye out for a blue OpenSnow jacket while you're on the chase!

Stay tuned to our 1-10 day forecasts for all of the Mountain Collective destinations and our team of local forecasters for the latest updates.

Thanks for reading and look for my next update on Monday, March 2nd.
