Cool down, but how much snow?

Summary

Big pattern change coming later in the week, with cooler weather. That part of the forecast is somewhat certain. What is unclear is snowfall.

Short Term Forecast

The chill down later in the week will be caused by a low pressure moving in from the NW. The models have been consistent with that. What is not certain is the track and moisture. It will be cool with snow levels down to 1000 ft by Saturday. The question is how much snow. Some models show a few inches, some more than one foot. So expect snow and cold, we'll see how much.

The image below shows low moving over the NW through the weekend.

Extended Forecast

There is a possibility of another system early next week. Then high pressure moves in with a dry pattern.
