Something Brewing Next Week

Summary

We'll have a few chances for snow over the next six days with the possibility of a stronger storm later next week. The three potential storms look to get progressively stronger and should bring significant snow to all three zones by the end of next week.

Short Term Forecast

After a short break between storms, we'll see a return to active weather starting midweek. The first storm is still tracking south of the region so impacts will be minor, but some light accumulations are possible. The next chance for snow comes over the weekend, with some decent totals possible in the central zone. Finally, a stronger storm is possible for the northern zone during the middle part of next week.

Below is the upper-level pattern for today, Tuesday, through later next week. You can see the first of three storms moving through the southern part of the continent at the start of the GIF.

With the southerly track, the impact on the resorts won't be too impressive. This storm will bring some snow showers from Tuesday afternoon through Thursday, primarily in the central and southern zones.

The next storm is expected to arrive on Friday and take a more northerly track. The lower part of the central zone and the southern zone should see the most snow out of this event, with 10 - 20 cm possible by Sunday. Check out the latest snow forecast from the American model below.

Extended Forecast

Over the last few days, the models have continued to show a storm for the middle part of next week. The trend is for a stronger storm as well, with significant totals possible in the northern zone. This storm is more than a week away so there are still a lot of details to iron out.

Thanks for reading the South America Daily Snow!

Next update on Friday.
