South America Daily Snow

Active But Not That Exciting
Summary
Several storms will impact the central Andes in the next seven to ten days but none will deliver any impressive amounts of snow. Conditions will stay fresh, at least, especially starting this weekend through early next week.
Short Term Forecast
A strong ridge is still dominating the region and we should have one more dry day before a storm moves onshore on Tuesday. The first of several weak storms tracking through the southern part of the continent will bring chances for rain and snow as early as Tuesday morning.
This system will start warm but quickly cool off from Tuesday night through Wednesday morning. It will linger through Wednesday in the southern zone and southern parts of the central zone, and through Thursday in the northern part. The northern zone shouldn't see any precipitation from this one.
Below is the latest snow forecast from the European model through Thursday.
Parts of Thursday will be dry for some areas but the next storm will arrive later in the day. From this time through the middle of next week there will be periods of snow showers and at times some moderate snow. I don't see more than 10 cm falling during any twelve-hour period but the most consistent snow should fall Friday night through Sunday morning.
Below is the forecast for rain/snow from Monday through Wednesday of next week, so you can get an idea of the off-and-on nature of the precipitation during this period. I've included the timestamp so you can see the day and time of day.
Some resorts in the central zone could see up to 25 cm during this period, but I think that will be the high end. Lesser totals are expected farther north, and I will have a snowfall forecast for this period in my next post.
Extended Forecast
The models favor a break in the action later next week and then more storms for the weekend. The signal is not strong, however, but that's not surprising considering that is more than ten days out.
Next update on Wednesday.
