Weak Start...

Summary

Clouds and winds increasing today. We could see ridge top winds around 60 mph by afternoon. Early Thursday morning the next storm moves in. Only expecting light to moderate precip Thursday across the Tahoe basin. Snow levels start near lake level and could rise to 7000 feet during the day. We could see a coating to an inch at lake level before the change to rain, and 1-5 inches on the mountains. We may see a break in the precip Thursday night and then heavier precip Friday as a front moves through. Snow showers could continue into Friday night. Snow levels start around 7000 feet Friday and could fall to lake level by Friday evening. We could see an additional 1-4 inches at lake level by Saturday morning, and 7-22 inches on the mountains. Mountain top gusts near 80 mph. Thursday and Friday. Light snow showers may continue along the crest Saturday, but overall expecting a break through Sunday with highs in the 30's. Then Sunday night into Monday the next storm moves in. This storm could bring 5-12 inches at lake level, and 6-18 inches to the mountains. Tuesday another storm may move in. This storm could bring several more inches of snow. Then the jet stream shifts North and we may quickly turn to sun and mild weather with highs in the 40's by next wednesday. The ridge over the area may still allow in some light precip the weekend of the 11th, but overall expecting a break from the stronger storms for about a week. We may see a pattern change around mid-month that could bring stronger storms the 3rd week of February.
