Summary

Cold with rain and snow today and high winds on the mountain tops. Snow levels hovering around 6500 feet. We could see 3-11 inches on the mountains. Winds gusting over 80 mph up high. Tonight snow levels drop near lake level with 2-5 inches possible and 2-7 inches on the mountains. Snow showers linger into Saturday with an inch or two possible on the mountains. Wind gusts dropping to around 60 mph. We should see a break Saturday night into Sunday but with winds picking back up. Then another storm moves in Sunday night into Monday. This storm also has snow levels near lake level until falling later Monday. We could see 3-10 inches at lake level, and 4-15 inches on the mountains by Monday night. An atmospheric river will feed moisture into Northern CA Tuesday and possibly into Thursday. Snow levels may start near lake level Tuesday but then quickly rising to above 8000 feet Tuesday night. We could see a few inches of snow Tuesday before it turns to a rain event Tuesday night into Thursday. Thursday night into Friday a cold front may push in bringing more precip and snow levels falling to 7000 feet next Friday with snow possible. Then high pressure is expected to build in with a break in the storms for about a week. We may see an active pattern return after mid-month around the 17th.
