Sunday
Sunday will be yet another day with a morning inversion as temperatures at the base will be colder (low 20s) with warmer air at the summit (upper 20s).
On Sunday, skies will be somewhat cloudy through midday, then the clouds should pass and skies should be sunnier during the afternoon. Also, temperatures will be a bit cooler than previous days and stay in the upper 20s to low 30s, and winds will be somewhat gusty (15-25 mph higher up on the mountain) during the midday and afternoon.
Monday and Tuesday
On Monday and Tuesday, a storm will bring colder temperatures and likely some snow, though Telluride will be on the southern edge of the snowfall.
Dress warmly as temperatures will be in the teens each day.
For snowfall, expect 1-2 inches on Monday afternoon and early evening. The last chair on Monday could offer a bit of new snow, and/or the first chair on Tuesday could offer a bit softer conditions on the groomers. This snow will not be enough for a real powder day, but some flakes on the groomers, on a midweek day in early December, is usually pretty fun.
On Monday night, the storm will move away, and skies on Tuesday should be mostly sunny.
Longer Range
Wednesday and Thursday will be dry and partly sunny with a high temperature in the upper 20s to low 30s on both days.
Then we'll have three chances for snow in the next week, though none of the storms has a high chance of bringing us a lot of snow.
The timing of the potential storms will be around Saturday, December 14, Monday, December 16, and Wednesday, December 18. Again, my expectations are low for total snowfall, but it would be nice to see more flakes.
In the meantime, we have a solid base, the low sun angle of early December will help to preserve our snowpack, so we're in an okay spot for early December, despite the dry weather that has followed Thanksgiving.
