Spring is here, and snow back in the forecast

For the ski areas that managed to make it through the March thaw, they will be rewarded with not one but two bouts of snow in the coming 7 days.

For this weekend, temperatures will climb up into the 40s and 50s again today before the first of two clippers moves south from the Canadian Rockies. Temperatures will drop on Saturday and Sunday, with the best chance for precipitation being Sunday afternoon and evening. Temperatures will be right around the freezing mark, and with its southernly track, it isn't going to be a huge snow producer. That being said, it will at least bring temperatures back towards normal levels.

Snowfall forecast through Sunday afternoon. Light amounts in most areas.

As for snow amounts, western Minnesota and the South Shore/UP have the best chance for picking up any accumulation. Most areas will see a dusting to 1" by Monday morning.

Looking ahead to next week, things start looking exciting for Tuesday night and Wednesday next week, with a larger storm in most models pulling across the international border bring snow to most of the Upper Midwest. While the models right now have a few inches covering everywhere from the Twin Cities to the UP, going to hold off until next week to forecast actual numbers and see where the model shifts the track towards.

Regardless, hopefully you weren't too ready for summer, because spring snow is still on the way! Have a good weekend!
