Powder Continues, Deepest in Colorado
Summary
Western mountains received 1-4 FEET of snow in the past week and three more storms could bring an additional 1-3+ FEET through the end of next week.
Short Term Forecast
Deep, Light Powder
This picture captures what we’re seeking when we chase powder. Deep powder that billows over our head! The image was taken on the final day of a three-day storm cycle which dropped 38 inches on Aspen Highlands in central Colorado.
Forecast for Thursday 3/7 to Friday 3/8
The consistency of the western storms during the past 4-6 weeks has been nothing short of incredible. The good times will continue as a system brings the deepest powder to California, Utah, and Colorado on Thursday with additional snow in Utah and Colorado on Friday.
Forecast for The Weekend (3/9 – 3/10)
Saturday should be a powder day in Colorado with lower amounts in Utah and Wyoming. To the east, a storm will spread rain and mountain snow over New England with some powder possible on Sunday.
Forecast for Next Monday 3/11 to Wednesday 3/13
The best chance to find powder early next week will be leftovers on Monday in New England, moderate amounts on Tuesday in British Columbia, and then a strong system with likely deep powder from Tuesday into Wednesday in Arizona, southern Utah, New Mexico, and Colorado.
Extended Forecast
The Outlook for Thursday 3/14 – Monday 3/18
It finally looks like the weather pattern will begin to change later next week as the cooler air and storminess heads to the east. This likely means that we’ll have lingering powder on Thursday over New Mexico and Colorado and then the western United States could see a break in the snow for at least a few days and maybe a week or more.
Thanks for reading and look for the next forecast on Monday, March 11.
