US and Canada Daily Snow

Heads up, there may be fresher snow! Read the latest US and Canada Daily Snow

A pretty snowy pattern for the next two weeks

Summary

This week, the Northwest will stay deep with consistent snowfall while the Rockies see lighter amounts. Over the weekend, storms will hit both the West Coast and the Northeast, then early next week should bring more snow to the Rockies.

Short Term Forecast

Sitting Pretty

This map shows the total snowfall over the past five days, and amounts have been substantial. We saw 10-20 inches in the Northeast (a welcome change from the warm weather!) as well as 20-40 inches across west-coast areas. Let’s keep the good times rolling!

Forecast for Tue, Jan 21 – Wed, Jan 22

The headline-grabbing snowfall during the middle of the week will be in coastal areas of the Northwest. About 1-2+ feet of snow will fall and moderately-cold temperatures should allow snow to fall on most mountains with raindrops at some base areas. The Rockies of Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico will also see snow but totals will be more moderate, likely in the 4-8”+ range.

Forecast for Thu, Jan 23 – Fri, Jan 24

We’ll close out the week with snow intensifying over British Columbia and drier conditions elsewhere.

Forecast for Sat, Jan 25 – Wed, Jan 29

The weekend and early next week are when we’ll see action from coast-to-coast. During the weekend, snow will target both the West Coast and the Northeast, and then during early next week, the West Coast snow will move inland to bring another chance for powder to the Rockies.

Extended Forecast

Outlook for Thu, Jan 30 – Mon, Feb 3

This is not the clearest pattern that I’ve seen in the 10+ day outlook, though if we squint and try to figure out what the models are saying, it appears that the Northwest will stay active, moderate-strength storms will hit the Rockies, and we’ll need to watch for storminess in the Southwest around Arizona and/or New Mexico.

Thanks so much for reading and please check back for my next post on Thursday, January 23rd.
