Snowy Week Ahead For Colorado & New Mexico

Summary

A storm will move across the Northwest and Northern Rockies on Monday-Tuesday before stalling for several days over the Southern Rockies. The result will be a multi-day snow event with deep totals expected in Southern/Eastern Colorado and Northern New Mexico.

Short Term Forecast

5-Day Snow Forecast:

Colorado and New Mexico will be the big winners this week with light snow on the backside of a storm on Monday, followed by periods of moderate to heavy snow from Tuesday night through Friday as a slow-moving storm takes hold. Many ski areas expected to pick up 1-2 feet of snow over the next 5 days.

The Northwest will also pick up some good snowfall early this week, including BC and Washington and to some extent the Northern U.S. Rockies.

Forecast for Mon (Nov 4) to Tue (Nov 5):

Snow from this past weekend's storm will linger over Colorado/New Mexico into Monday, while the next storm will bring heavy snow to BC and Washington with light/moderate snow spreading into the Northern U.S. Rockies. Snow will also return to the Southern Rockies on Tuesday night. 

Forecast for Wed (Nov 6) to Thu (Nov 7):

The storm will stall over the Southern Rockies with heavy snow falling across Colorado and New Mexico. Areas to the north and west of Colorado will see a drying trend, except for Alaska where a storm will bring heavy snowfall. 

Forecast for Fri (Nov 8) to Sat (Nov 9):

The storm will linger over the Southern Rockies into Friday with a possible uptick in snowfall over the Colorado Front Range. The next storm will reach BC and possibly the Northwest U.S. on Saturday. 

Extended Forecast

Outlook for Sun (Nov 10) to Thu (Nov 14):

A northwest flow storm track will be favored once again with storms tracking through the Pacific Northwest into the U.S. Rockies. Temperatures will remain colder than average across the U.S. Rockies with near-average temperatures in Canada and along the west coast of the U.S. The Eastern U.S. will remain in a warm pattern with well above-average temperatures and limited snow potential.
