7-Day Snow Forecast:
In the West, a storm will move into the Northern Rockies on Friday after dumping heavy snow over the Sierra Nevada Range and Tahoe on Thursday. Over the weekend and into early next week, weaker storms will move into the Northwest, while moisture will linger over Colorado for several days with respectable snow totals adding up.

In the East, buckle up and get ready for storms to arrive every couple of days. New York and New England will be the most favored for snowfall in this pattern, while areas from Pennsylvania to Virginia will see frequent mixed precipitation.
For the latter, some of these snowfall totals in the map are likely overdone due to sleet and freezing rain.

Forecast for Fri (Feb 7) to Sat (Feb 8):
Snow will taper off over the Sierra on Friday morning as the storm moves into the Northern Rockies with moderate to heavy snow for parts of Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana. Utah and Colorado will also pick up some nice snow totals. On Saturday, a weaker storm will move into the Northwest.
In the East, New England will see some light snow showers on Friday, then a storm will arrive on Saturday with snow favoring Southern New England. Areas from Pennsylvania to Northern Virginia will see a mix of sleet, freezing rain, snow, and rain.
Forecast for Sun (Feb 9) to Mon (Feb 10):
The West will see colder temperatures and weaker storms during this period, with Colorado favored for the highest totals. There could also be some locally sneaky totals in the Northwest and Northern Rockies.
The East will see a relative lull in between storms, but New England will have some lingering snow showers on Monday and the leading edge of a storm will reach the Mid-Atlantic with mixed precipitation on Monday night.
Forecast for Tue (Feb 11) to Wed (Feb 12):
A stronger storm is likely to move into the East with the potential for some areas to see heavy snow. But there are question marks in terms of the storm track and precipitation type as is to be expected this far out.
Snow showers will linger over the Rockies, favoring Colorado for the highest totals, while the western ranges (Cascades and Sierra) could see their next round of snow arrive as early as Wednesday or Wednesday night.
Extended Forecast
Outlook for Thu (Feb 13) to Mon (Feb 17):
This period is looking very active from coast to coast with frequent storms expected to move across the West, favoring the Sierra, Cascades, and Rockies, and eventually Canada as well. The East will also see storms arriving on a frequent basis with the potential for heavy snow across parts of New England and the Northern Mid-Atlantic.
Thanks so much for reading! Next update on Monday (February 10).

What are the main use cases for the forecast snowfall maps?
Get an easy-to-use visualization of the snow forecast for your favorite locations, check the timing of upcoming storms to catch the deepest turns or to avoid snowy road conditions, and see which ski resorts are favored for the deepest snow totals.
Are there any limitations to the forecast snowfall maps?
The forecast snowfall maps count "mixed precipitation" as "snow" so the maps could show more snow in areas that are getting sleet or freezing rain, along with where the rain/snow line is difficult to forecast. Double-check any location by tapping the map for the forecast details.
