Fresh, thick snow on Wednesday morning

Summary

On Tuesday night, we picked up 5 inches of thick powder. This was less than expected but should still be fun on Wednesday morning.

Short Term Forecast

Reminder: The Winter Park side is closed, and Mary Jane will remain open through Sunday, May 9.

Tuesday turned out mostly dry as the afternoon showers mostly missed the mountain.

On Tuesday night, snow finally started to accumulate, but without the early showers, total accumulations were lower than expected, just about 5 inches at mid-mountain instead of the 10+ inches we were hoping for.

Wednesday morning’s powder will be on the thicker side due to warm temperatures during the storm, but thicker powder is not necessarily a bad thing as it can nicely cover the firm surface underneath.

Extended Forecast

On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, we’ll see dry weather. High temperatures on Thursday will be in the 40s, then Friday and Saturday will be warmer with high temperatures in the upper 40s to mid-50s.

Then we’ll see two chances for snow in early May. The first chance will be between May 2-4, and the second chance will be between May 9-11. Both of these systems could drop at least a few inches of snow and maybe there will be enough for a powder day or two before Mary Jane closes on Sunday, May 9.

I will wrap up my daily updates of this Winter Park Daily Snow on Friday, April 30th. But with more snow in the forecast, I will write a few more updates during the first few days of May.

Thanks for reading and check back each morning for daily updates!
