Storm ends, next chance for snow around opening day

Summary

The storm on Thursday night dropped about 2 inches of thick, dense snow. I thought we'd see more, but at least we got some. The next chance for snow will be during the middle of next week.

Update

Thursday was snowy in the morning, dry for much of the day, then snow returned on Thursday night. Storm energy did move nicely over northern Colorado, but temperatures were rather warm and the snow was dense, limiting accumulations to about 2 inches on the mid-mountain snow stake cam.

Now on Friday morning, the accumulating snowfall is over and clouds are hanging over the mountain.

Weatherwise, from Friday through Tuesday, expect partly-to-mostly cloudy skies, times of gusty winds, and high temperatures in the upper 30s to low 40s. Low temperatures should be cold enough for some snowmaking at night.

From next Wednesday through around Thanksgiving, we'll be on the edge of the storm track. We could see storms pass near or over Colorado around November 17, November 19, and November 21, though it's NOT a slam dunk that any of these storms will bring significant snow. We'll need some luck. Do your snow dances!

Opening day is scheduled for Wednesday, November 17, though that's only if mountain operations can get enough snow coverage on at least a few runs. Fingers crossed snowmaking goes well and the next storms deliver.

Thanks for reading and check back each morning for daily updates!
