A little fresh snow on Thursday morning
Summary
We saw 1-2 inches of new snow on Wednesday night, and we should see another few inches on Friday as well.
Update
Wednesday was dry and mostly sunny, then we were looking for maybe a few flakes on Wednesday night as a weak storm departed Colorado. Well, we got a little more than a few flakes, with about 1-2 inches at the mid-mountain snow stake.
An inch or so of snowfall is usually not notable, but we've been in a dry weather pattern, so we'll take (and celebrate) any flakes that we can get.
Now on Thursday morning, the first turns of the day could be fun with a little fresh snow on top of the groomers. Weatherwise, temperatures will be in the teens for most of the day and morning clouds should give way to more sunshine.
The next chance for snow will be between about Friday late morning to Friday evening. During this time, we should see at least a couple of inches of snow, maybe in the 2-5 inch range. While the storm's track will not be favorable for significant snow accumulations, we should see enough moisture and storm energy to coax the atmosphere into giving up at least some accumulation. The best chance for the softest turns will likely be on Friday late afternoon, and since we will likely see snow continue after Friday at 400pm, there will be softer turns on Saturday morning as well.
The upcoming weekend (Saturday, January 22 to Sunday, January 23) will be dry and mostly sunny. Temperatures will be top out in the low-to-mid 20s.
Our next chance for snow will be on Tuesday and Wednesday, January 25-26, as a storm sideswipes Colorado. We could see anything from little snow to a few inches of accumulation.
Then, starting around the weekend of January 29-30, the western US and the Rockies will transition into a stormier weather pattern. I hope that this will translate into significant snowstorms for us as we head into February, but we'll need to wait and see how the details shake out.
Thanks for reading and please check back each morning for daily updates!
