Ending the week with some snow
Summary
Friday morning will offer a little bit of powder with snowflakes remaining in the air during the day. Then the weekend will be sunny, and the next storm will arrive on Monday night.
Update
Thursday started off with lingering snow flurries, then the rest of the day was partly sunny and dry with cool yet comfortable temperatures in the teens and 20s.
On Thursday night, the next storm dropped snow just before sunrise. We measured about 1 inch of accumulation at the mid-mountain snow stake as of Friday at 5:00 am.
For the day on Friday, we could see snow showers continue, though I honestly have lower confidence about exactly what will happen. The most likely scenario is that we could see snow showers during the day, with perhaps a burst of steadier and/or more intense snow later in the afternoon and into Friday evening. Snow accumulations on Friday into Friday evening will be in the 1-4 inch range, and if this snow comes later in the day or during the evening, then the softest turns could be on Saturday morning. Even though these snow totals are not that high, we are in a pretty dry weather pattern, so we should celebrate whatever snow that the atmosphere will send our way.
Saturday and Sunday will be sunny and dry with high temperatures in the 20s.
For next week, we'll start with dry weather on Monday with highs in the 20s, then our next chance for snow will be on Monday night into Tuesday. Like the current storm, this next storm will bring light-to-moderate accumulations and we'll likely see near or fewer than 6 inches of snow. Still, a refresh with a little new powder on Tuesday could make for soft and fun turns.
Looking farther ahead, the weather pattern across the western US and here in the Rockies should become stormier during the last few days of January and into at least the first half of February. As this time gets closer, we'll hopefully be able to track stronger storms as they head toward Colorado.
Thanks for reading and please check back each morning for daily updates!
