Sunday
Sunday will start with an inversion - temperatures are a few degrees cooler at the base compared to the summit, with readings generally in the 10-15°F range.
The rest of the day will be warmer with a high temperature in the 20s and mostly sunny skies.
The open trail count increased to 60 this weekend, meaning that about 35% of the mountain's trails are now open (60 of 171). We're in a good spot for December 1st.
Monday to Saturday
Monday through Saturday will be dry and mostly sunny. Temperatures will be a bit warmer with daytime highs in the 30s.
Sunday, December 8 - Tuesday, December 10
Sometime during the December 8-10 window, a storm will track close to Colorado and will likely bring slightly cooler temperatures, more clouds, and hopefully some snowflakes. Snow amounts will likely be light (just a few inches?). Even if it's not a lot, we'll take any sign of flakes in the forecast.
Longer Range
December 10-13 will likely be dry, and then between December 14-16, chances are increasing that a storm will bring cooler air and more snow. This is at the far end of predictable weather (15 days out) and it is not worth talking about the detailed forecast just yet, but at least the trend in the longer-range forecast models is to return us to a somewhat cooler and stormier weather pattern.
In the meantime, we have a solid base, the low sun angle of early December will help to preserve our snowpack, and more terrain should open over the coming days and weeks, so we're in an okay spot for early December, despite the mostly dry forecast for the next two weeks.
