December 2017 Snowpack Update

Western Canada and areas in the northern Rockies continue to impress with a snowpack near or above average. California, Utah, and Colorado are having a slow start to the 2017-18 season but storms are moving in and there is a positive outlook for the final days of December and into early January. 

The map below shows the current snowpack compared to average, with data from the backcountry weather station network known as SNOTEL.

The following Base Depth vs. Average graphs are available to OpenSnow All-Access users for nearly every mountain location in the western US and Canada. Here are a few locations with the deepest snowpacks (compared to the 30-year average).
