On Saturday, we started the day with 2 inches of snow from Friday night and then an additional 1 inch accumulated during the day at mid-mountain. Saturday’s snow was soft thanks to cold temperatures and a storm total of about 3 inches.

On Sunday, the main story will be cold temperatures that should stay in the single digits. Thanks to lingering moisture, we’ll see partly-to-mostly cloudy skies with a few tiny snowflakes in the air. It’ll be a very chilly day.

Monday and Tuesday will be sunny and not as cold. High temperatures on Monday will reach the teens, and high temperatures on Tuesday could be in the upper teens to low 20s.

The next chance for snow will start on Wednesday midday or afternoon and continue through Thursday evening or even Friday morning. Factors like moisture, temperature, and the wind direction all look pretty good and let’s go with 4-8 inches as my initial forecast. For timing, you’ll likely find some fresh snow on Wednesday afternoon and the deepest powder should be on Thursday morning. If snow happens to hang around through Thursday, conditions will continue to be powdery through Friday morning.

After the Wednesday/Thursday system, we will see more storms but I have no confidence in the timing of the snowfall. Some models indicated a storm on Friday into Saturday, others show a better chance on Sunday into Monday. We’ll see. The take-away point is that the longer-range forecast shows multiple chances for storms and this is good news.
