Update

On Tuesday, we saw clouds in the early morning followed by more sunshine during the day.

On Tuesday night, light snow arrived and dropped about 1/2 inch on the mid-mountain snow stake. This snow arrived earlier than expected and shows that the storm today, on Wednesday, is hard to forecast and may bring some surprises. My best guess for Wednesday will be to expect partly cloudy skies, times of light snow showers, and maybe a burst of snow during the midday, afternoon, or early evening thanks to a very unstable atmosphere (like we see with summertime thunderstorms). If we see this burst of snow, we could easily pick up a few inches in an hour or two later on Wednesday.

Wednesday night through Thursday morning should be dry.

From Thursday midday through Thursday night, we could see another shot of light snow from a fast-moving storm to our north. Most models show just 1-2 inches, though this system is trending stronger, so maybe we’ll see a bit more than that. Conditions should be softest on Thursday midday, Thursday afternoon, and maybe Friday morning.

Friday morning should be dry, then a final weak system could bring light snow on Friday evening and Friday night.

Saturday and Sunday will be dry and warmer as high pressure makes a stop in Colorado for two days. Saturday will be a nice day with a high temperature in the 30s, and Sunday will feel like spring with a high temperature in the 40s.

Monday will be a transition day, leaving the warm weather from Sunday and heading into a colder storm. Expect snow to begin Monday afternoon or Monday night and continue through Tuesday as temperatures drop into the teens and maybe single digits. Tuesday has a decent chance for being a low-to-moderate end powder day.

Following the storm on Monday/Tuesday, we should see a multi-day period of northwest flow set up from later Wednesday through Friday (February 5-7th). This set up usually leads to consistent snowfall and great conditions, so even though it’s 7+ days away, I am keeping a close eye on the forecast for later next week.

Thanks for reading and check back each morning for daily updates!
