Deep in the Rockies

Summary

Deep totals in the Northern Rockies will continue into February as multiple storms deliver healthy totals through Friday, February 7th. During the second week of February, the focus will remain on Canada and the Rockies. California will have to wait until the middle of the month to get back in on the action.

Short Term Forecast

We'll get started with the deepest reports from the Collective Resorts from Thursday, January 30th through the morning of Monday, February 3rd.

Deepest 5-Day Totals

Lake Louise: 22"

Banff Sunshine: 12"

Big Sky: 11"

Jackson Hole: 11"

Snowbird: 7"

Forecast

Same forecast, different month. Collective Destinations in the Rockies will continue to be the place to be as we flip the calendar into February and line up our powder chases for the next 10-15 days.

To start the week of February 3rd, we'll be looking at Jackson Hole in Wyoming, Alta/Snowbird in Utah, and Arapahoe Basin in Colorado for the deepest totals through Tuesday, February 4th.

Following a break on Tuesday and into Wednesday, a deep plume of moisture will line up for the northern and central Rockies. This will look to bring DEEP totals to Big Sky, Jackson Hole, Aspen Snowmass, and Arapahoe Basin through Friday, February 7th. Keep an eye on Friday and Saturday as great days to chase for soft and surfy turns.

Looking elsewhere, a warm storm will slide into the Northeast and look to deliver the goods to Sugarbush, Vermont on Thursday and into Friday. Keep an eye on Saturday AM for the best turns.

Further north, the Canadian Destinations will receive lighter totals this week but cold temperatures will keep fantastic conditions in place. February and March are the best times to explore the north as the days grow longer and the snowpack gets deeper.

Extended Forecast

Following the fun this week, we'll turn our attention to the week of February 10th as another system slides into the Intermountain West. This system will likely favor areas in the central and southern Rockies, with all other areas receiving lighter totals.

Stay tuned to our 1-10 day forecasts for all of the Mountain Collective destinations and our team of local forecasters for the latest updates.

Thanks for reading and look for my next update on Monday, February 10th.
