Forecast for Mon (Dec 23) to Tue (Dec 24):

Two storms will move across the West during this period with deep snow totals for the BC Coast Range and Alaska, while the Washington Cascades and the Sierra will see moderate totals. Lighter snow is expected for the Oregon Cascades and the U.S. Rockies.

A storm will also move across the Northeast with widespread light to moderate snow, favoring Northern New England and Upstate New York.

Forecast for Wed (Dec 25) to Thu (Dec 26):

Santa will deliver deep powder to the Northwest, including BC, Washington, and Oregon, while the Sierra and the Rockies will see a shot of light to moderate snow as well.

The Northeast could potentially see another light to moderate snow event, but confidence is low as not all models are on board with this yet.

Forecast for Fri (Dec 27) to Sat (Dec 28):

Another strong storm will bring heavy snow to the Northwest and Northern Rockies, with possibly some additional light snow for the Sierra. Colorado and Northern New Mexico could also pick up some light snow.

Extended Forecast

Outlook for Sun (Dec 29) to Thu (Jan 2):

Storms will continue to favor the Northwest and Northern Rockies as the calendar flips from 2024 to 2025, while the Sierra and the Central Rockies should pick up at least some snow on the southern fringe of the favored storm track.

The East will see a less favorable pattern with warmer temperatures and increased potential for rain or mixed precipitation. However, there are some signs that colder air will return around the end of this period.
