Western pow all week

Update

From President’s Day through Sunday, February 26th, nearly every mountain region in the west will receive significant powder.

Once again, California will be bombarded with snow, as will Oregon and Washington. Those storms will move inland and powder days are also likely in Utah, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado. The southern part of British Columbia and Alberta will also get in on the action. Only Arizona and New Mexico will miss out on the heaviest snow as the storm track will stay just to their north.

Looking ahead to next week, February 27 to March 3, the coolest air will remain over the western US and Canada, and this is a useful hint as to where we will likely find the best chances for fresh powder.

Recently, I received a note asking for advice. This person was trying to decide between chasing the powder in a few days, or waiting for the potential snowfall next week. I responded by saying that you shouldn’t give up what’s right in front of you for the possibility of something better in 10 days. If the forecast has been consistent and you can get to the powder now, you just have to go:-)
