How Pro Skier Caroline Gleich Uses OpenSnow to Plan Powder Days & Mountaineering Trips
OpenSnow is my go-to app for all things skiing, snow, and weather. Weather is such a huge part of outdoor adventuring - especially in the winter. It helps me make decisions about layering, what days are best to get out, and what to expect from the base to the summit of any mountain, worldwide.
Read Expert Analysis
I always start my day by reading the Utah Daily Snow, written by local forecaster Evan Thayer. He analyzes all of the raw weather data and writes a custom snow forecast for Utah, in addition to talking about weather trends, hourly and daily forecasts, and what days will be best for powder skiing.
Compare Snow Reports & Forecasts
OpenSnow is really useful when it comes to comparing 24-hour snow totals and forecasts from different areas. I use it to plan my week of ski touring and figure out which are the best days for powder skiing and shooting.
Check Cams & Snowfall Maps
I constantly check my favorite webcams to see what’s happening and to figure out when it’s going to be sunny/cloudy/snowing via the "Maps" tab. You can also view the estimated snow depth for any location to see how much snow is on the ground for any area in the United States.
View Forecasts Anywhere
Their new "Forecast Anywhere" tool is huge for when I want to view and save the latest 10-day weather forecast for any location on Earth, instantly. This feature is super helpful for getting a sense of recent snow conditions and daily weather for upcoming ski and mountaineering trips.
OpenSnow All-Access
Finally, I can't recommend enough subscribing to their All-Access subscription. This direct support helps OpenSnow continue to build new features to help you plan any outdoor adventure, winter or summer, while also supporting the team of local forecasters.
