7-Day Snow Forecast:

More storms are on tap for the West with Canada, the Pacific Northwest, and the Northern/Central Rockies favored for the deepest snow totals.

In the East, two storms are in the forecast over the next week with increasing snow potential for the Northern Great Lakes and New England.

Forecast for Wed (Mar 19) to Thu (Mar 20):

A storm will move into the Northwest with heavy snow developing across the Cascades, British Columbia, and Northern/Central Idaho with light to moderate snow for Western Montana. Snow levels will also remain low with a cold airmass in place.

A storm will also move across the East with rain expected for most areas, but a changeover to snow across the higher terrain of the Appalachians and New England will occur on Thursday night. Bands of moderate to heavy snow are also expected over the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes.

Forecast for Fri (Mar 21) to Sat (Mar 22):

Another storm will move into the West with heavy snow developing across the Northwest, Canada, and Northern U.S. Rockies. This storm will also dip a bit further south than the last one with snow expected across Utah and Colorado.

In the East, a coastal low is expected to develop off the coast of New England with snowfall likely developing across Maine and New Hampshire, while confidence is lower on the western fringe of this system (Vermont and New York).

Forecast for Sun (Mar 23) to Mon (Mar 24):

A ridge of high pressure will build over the Western U.S. with a transition to warmer and drier conditions for many areas. However, an atmospheric river (plume of subtropical moisture) will impact the Northwest with a rise in snow levels occurring, resulting in a transition from snow to rain at most ski areas.

In the East, another storm is possible for the Upper Midwest and New England. While confidence in the precise storm track and details are low this far out, there is potential for some areas to receive significant snowfall.

Extended Forecast

Outlook for Tue (Mar 25) to Sat (Mar 29):

A similar pattern is expected heading into the middle of next week with above-average temperatures and spring skiing conditions for much of the West, while storms loaded with subtropical moisture will continue to impact the Northwest with a high likelihood of rain.

Toward the end of this period, colder air may push into the Northwest with a trend toward lower snow levels and better snow potential.

In the East, a colder pattern is expected and New England could potentially receive some more snow.

Thanks so much for reading! Next update on Friday (March 21).
