Significant Storm Cycle for the Northwest and Rockies

A series of storms are on track to bring heavy snow to the Pacific Northwest and the Rockies through the first few days of December. This storm cycle is coming at just the right time as snowpack is below average throughout the West as of November 30. Snowfall from this cycle will help to build up the early-season base at many ski resorts.

This pattern will start cold and end warm, with a transition from low-density powder snow to wetter/denser snow in most areas (i.e. "upside down" snow conditions). Also, many ski resorts in the Northwest will see a change-over from snow to rain later this weekend once warmer air arrives.
